1. Responsible party

RenovateConnect (Limpopo, South Africa) is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. Contact info@renovateconnect.co.za. Until a separate information officer is appointed in writing, privacy requests should be sent to that address. A company registration number and registered office will be published here when they are available.

2. What we collect

When you request a quotation or send a message we collect your name, email address, phone number where provided, location, project type, property type, preferred start date, the description you type, and a count of photos you selected. Photos themselves are stored with us only if you send them (for example as email attachments).

If you register interest as a professional we collect the same contact fields plus your message about the business. After launch we may also collect account details, portfolio images, quotations, messages and reviews in order to operate the matching service.

Technical data such as IP address, browser type and basic usage logs may be processed by our hosting provider as part of running the website.

3. Why we process it

We process this information to respond to you, to phone suitable professionals, to share a brief with those companies, to operate and improve the platform, to keep records of enquiries, and to meet legal duties. The typical lawful bases under POPIA are that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before a contract, to pursue a legitimate interest in running a matching platform, or because you have consented (for example by submitting a form). We do not sell personal information.

4. Enquiry data in particular

Quote and contact forms post to our server and are stored in our private admin inbox so we can reply and, where appropriate, share a job brief with shortlisted companies. If an email delivery service is configured, we may also send a copy to info@renovateconnect.co.za. If the form cannot save, the site may open your mail application so you can send the same details to us.

5. Who we share it with

Quote details are shared with companies we shortlist for that job. We may use service providers — for example website hosting and transactional email — who process information on our instructions. We share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of RenovateConnect or others. We do not sell lists of customers or professionals.

6. Retention and security

We keep enquiry records for as long as needed to handle the request, to phone professionals, and to meet record-keeping and legal obligations, then delete or anonymise them when they are no longer required. We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect information. No website is completely secure. Keep a copy of anything important you send us.

7. Cookies

The site uses cookies and similar storage that are needed for it to function (for example to keep a session working). We do not currently run advertising cookies. If that changes, this notice will be updated.

8. Direct marketing

We may email you about your enquiry or, later, about your account. We will not send promotional mail unless the law allows it and you can opt out. Registering interest as a professional is treated as a request to hear from us about joining the network.

9. Cross-border processing

Hosting or email providers we use later may store information outside South Africa. Where that happens we will take steps required by POPIA so that the information remains protected.

10. Children

The platform is intended for adults arranging construction or renovation work, not for children. Do not submit a child’s personal information through the forms.

11. Your rights

Under POPIA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and object to certain processing, subject to the Act. Email info@renovateconnect.co.za. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za; POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za).

We may update this notice by publishing a new version on this page. The date at the top will change when we do.
